About Camping Babsita
After many years as a 'special educational needs' teacher in Switzerland, Babs finally realised her dream of living on the Carribean coast in 2023, after falling in love with Costa Rica.
Camping Babsita is a place where locals and visitors alike can come together and enjoy a sense of community, set away from the busier locations like Cahuita and Puerto Viejo but within easy reach by bus or car. Led by Babs and a team of local workers and volunteers from all over the world, Camping Babsita offers camping, cabins and a casa for rent, right by the beautiful beach of Playa Estrella.
Camping Babsita is the perfect place to stop, relax and enjoy nature. We have two resident sloths who can usually be found in the trees around the campsite and families of howler monkeys are regular visitors. Birds and butterflies are abundant, both around our grounds and on the River Estrella that runs behind us.
As well as offering accommodation, Babs continues to use her skills and experience as a teacher to support the local community's education. She strongly values the importance of learning, believing it can transform young people's lives and open the door to a brighter future. Through her efforts, she helps young people who have dropped out of education or who need support to find new opportunities and a renewed sense of purpose.
